Maha Shivaratri means “The Great Night of Shiva”. It is a traditional night of worship to pay homage to Lord Shiva, the father of Tantra and the Great Guru of all the Yogis.
Join us in a community celebration where through meditations, bhajans (devotional singing), offerings, spiritual readings, studying the various aspects of Shiva, reverential dancing, prayer and Bhakti Yoga we honor, invoke and merge with the Shiva consciousness.

In any given year there are normally 12 New Moons. One of these new moons is a special black moon that takes place sometime in February or March, depending on astrology.
During a full moon the energy is at its peak and it resonates with the lower chakras, specifically svadhisthana chakra, the epicenter of emotions and sexuality in the human being. The Mahashivaratri black moon, in contrast, represents the darkest night of the year where the moon’s energy is at its lowest, most refined and most subtle. It is the energy of Shiva and represents transcendence and divinity.
This is an auspicious moment in time which presents tantric practitioners with a precious opportunity and favorable circumstances to more easily access and arouse the higher chakras, and specifically, Sahasrara, the Crown chakra. Sahasrara is the seat of lucidity, the abode of Shiva and our portal to Enlightenment.

What you can expect
This ceremonial event will be approximately 4 hours in duration and will be a perfect blend of bhajans, ritualistic offerings, meditations for select aspects of Shiva, spiritual readings and prayer, all guided and supported by our guru, Somananda.
Soma will be guiding, harnessing and uplifting the group energy, creating an echochamber of divine grace and spiritual revelations for all who join.

How to prepare
There are a few preparations we ask you to make at home prior to the ritual which will help you to cultivate the right intentions and energy for spiritual epiphanies to take place.
- WOMEN: Please wear a white dress or outfit (pure white is best). Feel free to use jewelry and accessories to enhance your beauty and femininity.
- MEN: Please wear a white outfit such as a shirt and pants or shorts (pure white is best). The shirt should be plain and not have any logos or images on it.
- It is recommended to fast for 12-24 hours before the ritual.
- Detoxing prior to the ritual has proven to be extremely beneficial for energy flow and sublimation.
- Come to the celebration freshly showered and groomed.
- Create a spiritual space in your room by using incense, candles, spiritual statues, and yantras.
- Prepare a comfortable sitting space on the floor or chair.
- Cultivate a mindset of humbleness, devotion and receptivity.

How to participate
This course is offered live online through the Zoom platform. All necessary access codes and passwords for this online course will be sent to you in an email one or two days prior to the start of the online course.
During all teaching and practice sessions we ask you to:
- Use a webcam at all times. This creates a much better learning environment and group energy. If your webcam is not switched on during teaching sessions you will be removed from the session.
- Use a headset with a built-in microphone. This is required for better audio quality, more concentrated learning experience and privacy of the teachings.
- Be alone in the room or only with another registered course participant. No family members, friends or partners who have not registered for the course are allowed to be in the same room with you during the teaching sessions.
